Modernizing Travelport’s tech stack to drive global agility
Travelport operates one of the world’s top three global distribution systems (GDS), connecting travel suppliers and resellers via its B2B commerce platform. However, the company faced major hurdles with its highly customized legacy ERP and billing systems. It wanted to modernize its systems to enhance resilience, business continuity, and cost reduction.
Key challenges included:
- Managing complex integrations across SAP, Oracle, Microsoft, and Orbit
- Identifying internal skills gaps for new technologies
- Needing a flexible, scalable infrastructure
To address these challenges, Travelport partnered with Hitachi Digital Services and AWS to implement SAP’s Billing and Revenue Innovation Management (BRIM) on S/4HANA.
The team:
- Ran deep due diligence on business processes and technical requirements
- Chose AWS for elastic scalability, flexible cost models, and proven SAP performance
- Leveraged Hitachi’s certified SAP-on-AWS expertise to guide deployment and disaster recovery strategy
A global Hitachi Digital Services team ensured cloud integration, solution resilience, and minimized data loss through a robust multi-layered approach.
Travelport’s transformation journey has been accelerated through a collaborative, transparent partnership.
- Risks mitigated early through proactive roadblock identification
- Strategic cost savings identified and unlocked
- Technical ownership reduced, enabling sharper focus on customer and business outcomes
Hitachi Digital Services will manage the environment for Travelport, providing support across SAP on AWS and OCI. This includes Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service for SAP. This allows Travelport to really focus in on what’s crucial to its business and its customers.
