At Hitachi Digital Services, we’re helping build smarter, more sustainable energy systems, and that’s where I see real impact.

Finding My Path at the Crossroads of Energy and Digital Innovation

My passion for electrical engineering stems from a deep curiosity about how people power the world. I pursued a bachelor’s degree in Energy System at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering for Sustainable Development at ENSAM (France). Through research and academic exposure, I developed a global perspective on energy challenges, especially around energy system optimization, renewable energy forecasting, and power system reliability. One highlight was publishing my research paper on wind power forecasting in the IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, a respected journal highly regarded by researchers in the electrical engineering community.

I began my consulting journey at Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), where I worked on grid studies and feasibility reports for renewable energy projects. That’s when I realized the importance of not just analyzing technical systems, but also aligning them with broader regulatory, operational, and business needs — a mindset that’s essential in consulting.

Later at a German consulting firm, I took on a more strategic and stakeholder-facing role, working on electricity network projects in partnership with EVN and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. There I led capacity-building initiatives, regulatory support, and technical studies like distribution grid hosting capacity and Distributed energy resources integration — deepening my understanding across the full energy value chain.

Joining Hitachi Digital Services as an Energy Subject Matter Expert (SME) has brought everything together. Here, I work at the intersection of energy systems and digital transformation, helping drive IT/OT convergence for mission critical projects in energy and manufacturing.

Why Our Work Matters: Advancing the Energy Transition

At Hitachi Digital Services Vietnam, our Energy CoE plays a critical role in driving the global transition toward decarbonization, decentralization, and digitalization. Our focus is on designing and implementing advanced smart and reliable grid platforms. These systems are crucial components of energy infrastructure, helping ensure social energy security across generation, transmission, distribution, and retail operations.

By combining deep OT/IT domain expertise, we ensure that the business requirements from customers — whether in Japan, Thailand, or broader Asia — are translated accurately and effectively into software features and system architecture. We collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and delivery teams to ensure each solution not only meets technical standards but also aligns with regulatory requirements and user expectations. This positions Hitachi not just as a digital solution provider, but as a trusted innovation partner in the energy sector.

What the Future Holds: Smart, Sustainable Energy

I am most excited by the move from traditional, centralized and unidirectional power systems to smarter, decentralized grids powered by renewable and distributed energy. Digital technologies like SCADA, EMS, DMS, and DERMS, along with advanced analytics and forecasting are enabling real-time optimization, efficiency, and flexibility. This is where I see real impact – making energy systems more sustainable, efficient, accessible, and responsive to a changing world.

Harmony After Hours: Music as a Creative Recharge

I am part of the music club at HitachiDS Vietnam, where we usually gather over lunch to sing and connect. The music club is a place where colleagues from different departments come together through music – we can play, connect and share our mutual hobby via melody. The club organizes some engaging events on Christmas or Tet holidays. Music does help relieve stress and allows us to strengthen ties with our peers and bring balance to our work life.

Why Hitachi? Growth, Support, and Meaningful Work

Since joining in 2024, I’ve been impressed by the chance to work hands-on with cutting-edge technologies, and the strong support for self-development through various training courses. The open-minded leadership, friendly colleagues, and healthy work-life balance create a space where growth comes naturally. It’s a great place for young professionals eager to learn, grow, and make a real impact.
